Sistas Curl - it's all about Moisture
Do you have some time to spare or are you just looking for a new activity? Then we have the perfect DIY for you! We will take you step by step until you have your own flaxseed product! You can use this product as a hair mask or gel. But first, what is flaxseed and why is flaxseed so good for your hair?
Flaxseed, derived from the flax plant ( Linum usitatissimum ), is a small, brown seed that is rich in nutrients. It contains high levels of omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E, B vitamins and minerals such as magnesium and selenium. These nutrients contribute to healthy hair. Omega-3 fatty acids promote blood circulation to the scalp, which can stimulate hair growth. Vitamin E is like an antioxidant that protects hair follicles and can reduce hair loss. In addition, the moisturizing properties of flaxseed help to retain moisture in the hair, keeping it soft and shiny. Moreover, flaxseed is not only good for the hair, but also for the skin and is a good addition to the daily diet. So all kinds of benefits!
And now… the recipe for making your own flaxseed mask/gel:
You can also add a few drops of essential oil for extra care. Think for example of our Fenu Serum or the Nigella (Black) Seed Oil Serum.
Step 1: Cooking the linseed
Step 2: Sift and store
5. Pour the mixture through a sieve or pantyhose into a bowl to separate the flaxseed from the gel. Use a spoon to squeeze the gel out well and scrape it out of the pan.
6. Allow the gel to cool before adding any further ingredients.
Step 3: Extra care (optional)
7. Add a few drops of essential oil for extra care, if desired.
Step 4: Storage and use
9. Pour the cooled gel into an airtight jar and store in the refrigerator. Note that the gel will last for about a week !
10. Use the flaxseed gel as a hair care or styling product by applying it to damp hair and combing through with your fingers.
Tada! Your very own flaxseed mask or gel!
